Travel to Europe and North Africa
Getting to Rome, he sees that everything is filled with antiquity and the puzzle comes together. He begins to collect antique objects. Moreover, it was not so important for him to confirm their authenticity as the aesthetic component was important.

In 1954, he served in the US Army as a cryptographer in Washington. And this activity left a clear mark on his artistic style. Realizing that he does not want to be associated with the American mainstream: to be sloppy, that he wants to become a different artist, he goes to Italy. Marries Tatiana Franchetti, the sister of his patron. His son Alesandro is born. There are no problems with money.
In 1952, Twombly received a grant from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and visited North Africa, Spain, Italy and France. In his justification for receiving a grant, he simultaneously formulates the formula of his life: For me, everything past is present, therefore all art is modern
Cy Twombly was born in 1928 in the American South in Lexington, Virginia.
Real name Edwin Parker Twombly Jr. His father was an athlete and named himself and his son after baseball great Cy Young.
Past is present
Subsequently, Twombly remembered the colonial architecture of the south of America with nostalgia, and embodied his love in sculpture. He covered the objects in white paint, comparing them to wooden Virginia columns that imitated marble. The white paint became his marble.

Cy Twombly received a good classical education at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. They constantly sketched the exhibits in the collection and studied Roman and Greek poetry. For him, the feeling that the world was full of classics, Greek and Roman names pushed him to maintain a warm attitude towards Greco-Roman culture throughout his life.

Black Mountain College was experimental in nature. The main idea of educational philosophy was aimed at connecting art and everyday experience. The founders believed that a person could achieve great heights in the profession if he did not make any difference between everyday life and professional employment. None of the subjects were major.

They took a certain topic and studied it from different points of view. For example, the theme of death. How does art, physics, biology relate to this? The method was that they took a problem and the students had to solve it. Black Mountain College was home to a large number of avant-garde Europeans with whom he interacted, such as John Cage, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg.
